The Leader in High Temperature Semiconductor Solutions
CISSOID unveils RHEA, a High Temperature Dual-Channel, 2Mbits/s Isolated Data Transceiver
Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium - December 13, 2010. CISSOID, the leader in high-temperature semiconductor solutions unveils RHEA, a high temperature data transmission solution with galvanic isolation of 2.5kV and operating reliably from -55°C to +225°C. The CHT-RHEA is a single chip dual channel, full duplex transceiver (2 transmit and 2 receive channels). The magnetic isolation on each channel is ensured by an external tiny pulse transformer, of which the core diameter does not exceed 6mm (0.24"). The complete 4-channel data transmission requires one instance of CHT-RHEA on each side of the pulse transformers. CISSOID has already demonstrated the overall function at board-level, including the transformer on the full temperature range. The PCB demonstrator based on CISSOID components achieves a data rate of 2MBits/s, with transmission delays and jitter respectively lower than 100ns and 25ns over the full chain. The circuit architecture, the modulation scheme and the transformer design have been optimized to provide immunity to extreme dV/dt, as high as 50kV/µs. The solution offers state-of-the-art digital signal isolation with substantial advantages over opto-couplers such as high reliability, lower-power, high immunity to dV/dt and operation in extreme temperature conditions. CHT-RHEA is a versatile component which is useful everywhere a digital signal has to be transmitted with galvanic isolation between two different common mode voltage domains under extreme temperatures. At conventional temperatures, RHEA will ensure outstanding reliability and life time of the system. Applications include isolated gate drivers for IGBT, JFET and MOSFET power transistors, including Silicon Carbide (SiC) switches, industrial busses, isolated A-D converters and sensor interfaces, motor drives and battery management in industrial, aeronautics, railway and electric & hybrid vehicles. RHEA integrated circuit will be used in CISSOID's upcoming complete isolated gate driver technology called HADESTM, for transmission of control and feedback signals across the low and high voltage domains.
The preliminary datasheet of RHEA is available on CISSOID's website and engineering samples in SOIC28 package will be available in the first quarter of 2011. For more information, visit www.cissoid.com or contact the company's representatives atwww.cissoid.com/company/about-us/contacts.html.

FUJITSU SOLAR RELAYS - We contribute to a sustainable environment Fujitsu Components recognizes the value and importance of protecting the global environment and strives to contribute to the creation of a sustainable environment for future generations. Not only does Fujitsu endeavor to reduce the environmental impact of the products throughout the product lifecycle, but also designs its products for integration in environment improving appliances. Fujitsu Components’ product range contains power relays that are highly tailored to be used in solar energy systems. Solar energy The world’s current number one energy source is oil. The advantages of solar energy over oil are however numerous. Looking at the environmental aspects the most important fact is that solar energy can be marked as the cleanest energy available, as there is no pollution created in the process of generating electricity. Solar energy supporting relays Supplying the generated electricity to the electricity network requires an interface between the solar converter and the power grid. The circuit break function between the converter and the power grid must have a contact gap of ≥ 1.5mm (according to safety standard DIN VDE 0126-1-1). Fujitsu Components offers three different relays that meet these requirements. The FTR-K2G with a contact gap of 3mm is one of the (AC) relays within Fujitsu Components’ power relay line-up that is suitable for integration in solar energy systems. Fujitsu is also proud to introduce the newly developed relays FTR-K3-WG and FTR-F4G. Both relays meet the safety requirements with a contact gap of 1.5mm. The DC-relays FTR-J2 and brand-new FTR-K2W are suitable to be integrated in the solar energy system to switch on/cut off the DC voltage generated by the solar panel. More information about Fujitsu Components’ solar relays will be available soon on emea.fujitsu.com/components/ Fujitsu solar relays for a sunny future! FUJITSU’S FLAT PANEL SPEAKER - Unify sound and
image In association with Authentic Ltd, a Japanese company focused on audio technology, Fujitsu Components co-develops and offers Flat Panel Speakers. This revolutionary technology is based on a master patent held by Technology Fujitsu uses a Flat Panel Speaker (also called DML, Distributed Mode Loudspeaker) on which an actuator applies vibration to one part of the panel. The vibration travels on the panel surface and is transmitted to the surrounding air. This creates a sound of very natural quality with wide directivity. Conventional speakers produce sound with relatively narrow directivity. Fujitsu will offer two types of panel speakers units: The SoundVu and the SurfaceSound. Panel speakers utilizing NXT’s DML mechanism are called “SurfaceSound”. They can be located as conventional speakers (on both side of a computer screen for example). If the panel material is transparent, the speaker can cover the screen of the device. This so called “SoundVu” technology unifies sound and image, resulting in a unique experience. The screen becomes the speaker! Product features A conventional cone speaker produces optimal sound when the listener is situated in a position towards the speaker. The Flat Panel Speaker provides sound that can be heard clearly and naturally no matter where the listener is located. The panel speaker is smaller and thinner than a conventional speaker. Its dimensions make the speaker easy to integrate in applications/areas were space is limited. The panel speaker can be marked as waterproof, dust and oil proof as no grill or hole is required. This makes it ideal for industrial or medical equipment as well as for clean room applications. The panel speakers can be designed from a few inches to over 24 inches. The Flat Panel Speakers have been designed for applications such as cell phones, UMPC’s, MP3’s, digital photo frames, Personal Navigation Devices, PDA’s, Flat TV/monitors, mobile games and medical/industrial equipment. Fujitsu Components Europe offers in cooperation with Authentic customization support for the ultimate sound solution. FUJITSU’S FLAT PANEL SPEAKER Unify sound and image The screen becomes the speaker! FUJITSU FTR-J2 - Ultra small high voltage DC relay Power is the keyword to describe the FTR-J2. The power is demonstrated in the relay’s capability of switching 450V DC, 10A. The FTR-J2 surprises because of its small size. The relay measures just 24mm(L) x 23.5mm(W) x 27mm(H). To be able to switch high DC voltages in these small dimensions, Fujitsu has designed two strong permanent magnets in the relay. This magnetic provision is installed to extinguish the severe breaking arc. These two “firefighters” ensure the safety of the relay. The FTR-J2 is a 2 Form A relay that can be used in two different configurations. It can be used in a circuit with a configuration of 2x200VDC and with a configuration of 1x450VDC. The FTR-J2 can handle an inrush current of 150A (capacitive load). It offers high insulation between contacts and coil with an insulation distance of clearance/creepage > 6mm, a dielectric strength of 4,000VAC and 10,000V surge strength. The FTR-J2 relay has been designed for applications such as; UPS, wireless base stations, solar converters, solar batteries and other battery powered equipment. But it can also function as an IGBT replacement and used in inverters and converter eliminations. The relay is certified by UL and VDE.

| New PCI Express Connectors Edge Into Tight Spaces | |||
These card edge connectors are designed to meet the requirements of PCI Express architectures that call for a high performance point-to-point full duplex I/O Bus connector. While most PCI Express connectors available in the market are vertical, the new ERNI PCIe connectors are right-angled, which is ideal for solving space problems in applications where low clearance above the PCB prohibits the use of vertical configurations. ERNI right-angled PCIe connectors provide board-to-board distances ranging from 5.84mm to 16.68mm, and are compatible with 1.6mm to 2.4mm thick motherboards and 1.6mm thick daughter cards. These robust PCIe connectors are available in 3 stack heights of 5.84mm, 11.17mm and 16.68mm, and are equipped with molded polarization keys to prevent improper insertion of the daughter cards. The connectors provide solder termination with a termination length of 2.54mm. The PCIe connector layout is arranged in a 4-row format with 2mm pitch and the provision of 2 holes for locater pegs. This enables the connector to be securely assembled and easy soldered through a lead-free wave soldering process. Each serial link supports 2.5Gb/s (per direction) in 100W Gen1 systems. The connectors, which are available in black and in tray packaging, are ideal for use in many applications, including servers, workstations, desktop PCs (replaces AGP) and storage applications. |
